The World Health Organization has defined heath as ‘a state of complete physical, mental, and social wellbeing. This takes into account ones state of mind, how we think, perceive and conceptualize. These mental factors determine the attitudes we have about life, the way we deal with our physical and social surroundings and how we interact with others’. From this prospective we are all on a healing journey.

Matara is a 'not for profit' organization committed to explore and promote the principles of personal, environmental, and organizational wellbeing.
We offer residential meditation and rejuvenation retreats where you can practice the principles of wellbeing in a tranquil and beautiful environment in the Cotswold Hills. Set
in 28 acres of meditative woodlands.
We provide what is missing from life today: a quiet space to breathe freely, to relax, refresh, renew; redirect life away from stressful living and back to healthy living.
The current health care and environmental crisis are reflections of each other. By understanding how our bodies naturally rejuvenate and what causes it to breakdown we can start to understand the environmental issues i.e how it naturally rejuvenates and what causes it to break down. We affect the environment and are affected by the environment again they are reflections of eachother.
It is now necessary for us to evolve to a new level of awareness regarding the principles of personal and environmental rejuvenation. I believe this can best be achieved through meditation. The first requirement is to quieten our busy minds and be open to a greater field of knowledge.
We are all born with a rich natural inheritance, a partially formed mind, open to infinite possibilities. If we are to develop to our fullest potential our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs must be met. It is when they are not, we become vulnerable to depression, anxiety, addictions and illness.
