Our guests love to wonder through the woodlands and parklands. This is truly a place to relax make your heart sing and let your sprit soar. On your stroll you will come across many surprises - our wishing tree, the stone labyrinth, a walled ornamental herb garden - you may even spot deer, rabbits and pheasant.

‘I think our guests were overwhelmed by the beauty of Kingscote and the surrounding countryside, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. All those that stayed in the house fell in love with it’

Freedom to create your perfect wedding

28 Sep 2008 at 4:10pm
Dear Geoffrey and all at Matara Our wedding was always intended to be a public affirmation and celebration of the 18 years we have spent together and of our commitment to a shared future, with those people we care about most and who have shown us their love and support over the years. The intention sent out to the universe, on the very wet night before the wedding, was for a day filled with joy and magic, drawing people together. Thank you for creating such a unique environment in which all that and more could happen! Earlier in the year, you encouraged us to let go of any thoughts of the 'perfect day' and allow things to unfold. This spirit carried us through the inevitable hiccups of wedding planning relatively unstressed. It allowed us to embrace all that the weather could throw at us - we could not have asked for a more wonderful or memorable day! 'Uplifting', 'calm', 'healing', 'chilled' - these are just a few of the words used by our guests in response to Matara. Our heartfelt thanks to all of you! We hope to see you soon. With love and best wishes Gina & Paul

All our guests commented on the smooth running of the day and this was down to your professionalism and enthusiam for ensuring everyone has a great time. Matara will always be a special place for Gareth and I and we both look forward to visiting and re-visiting in the furture. Matara are very lucky to have you and I know many more couples will enjoy their weddings as much as we did because of you. We wish you all the best for the future and hope to see you soon. With love and best wishes Gareth and Anna (Holtam!)

Dear Geoffrey and all at the Matara Centre, Thank you so much for everything you did for us in the build-up to our wedding day, which turned out to be a truly phenomenal experience. As we learnt from Geoffrey, when the day arrived, after months of planning, we relinquished control and had no intention other than to show and share our love. It has been wonderful to receive such positive and joyous messages from our guests since the wedding. It seems they were so enraptured by the whole feel of the Matara centre- the setting, the decor, the people, the sense of calm and love and togetherness - that it was almost overwhelming. I thought I'd pass on to you some quotes from cards & letters we received. "The Matara Centre was a beautiful location for the occasion, it was a real pleasure to stay there" "I haven't yet come down to earth after the wonderful enjoyable weekend - just out of this world!" "We're still amazed at how great everything was, it could'nt have gone better" Lots of love Julia & Martin - We will be back. xx

Dear Geoffrey We wanted to write to express our appreciation of and gratitude for all the hard work and dedication that makes the Matara centre such a perfect place to celebrate a marriage. We loved everything about the wedding of our daughter, Rosie and her partner, Dominic: the beautiful setting and the sound of the water. The gracious house where the two families could spend time together and the thoughtfulness and professionalism of the staff. We particulary wanted to say what a tower of strength and source of endless good humour Rebecca was. Nothing ever seemed to faze her and, although she clearly worked very hard, she made it all seem as if it was a pleasure to her. Your housekeeper did us proud with a lovely meal on Thursday evening and the young man who managed the bar was also hard working and charming. Althogether the staff are a great advertisement for the philosophy of the centre. We are delighted that Rosie and Dom chose the Matara centre for their marriage and take away the happiest of memories of the celebration in it's wonderful setting. With best wishes Anne & Michael Head - Bride's parents

Mark and I just wanted to thank you and the whole Matara team for your enthusiasm and hard work on the run up to our wedding, and on the day itself in December. We had the most fantastic day, which even the appalling weather failed to spoil! Everything ran smoothly thanks to your attention to detail, we really could'nt have asked for more. The house is just breath-taking and its peaceful surroundings made it the perfect place to wind down after the big day. Mark and I didn't want to leave. Thank you again - your efforts were very much appreciated and our time at Matara will always be a memory we'll treasure. Kind regards Lucy & Mark

Dear Rebecca, Geoffrey and all the staff A huge thank you to you both for allowing us to hold Adrian's 50th Birthday Party at the Matara. It was a huge success and went better than we could ever have imagined it would. This was of course partly down to the beautiful venue and of course, the wonderful staff who were so helpful and happy - we felt they were a part of the party too. Everyone enjoyed it so much that we are looking for an excuse to have another party at the Matara. We look forward to seeing you again in the future. Warmest wishes. Kathryn & Ali

Dear Geoffrey, Rebecca & Jean Re: House Rental 7, 8, 9th December 2007. Now that the excitement of the wedding, Christmas and New Year has settled down, Diana and I would like to say a Big Thank You for letting us share your house. It was an absolute treat to have our own base, to entertain our friends, provide our son with an Usher's lunch and give the band a base! We had a marvelous time made splendid by the comforts of the house and your help & support. Best Wishes for 2008 Russell & Diana Watkins
